Earlier this week, the latest addition to the O’Donnell Moonshine range and newest flavour in our cream liqueur portfolio, Vanilla Cream hit the shelves. This liqueur, with 17% alcohol volume, has a smooth, velvety texture and features sweet notes of vanilla, with a touch of indulgent caramel.
Joining the O’Donnell range in the middle of winter, Vanilla Cream was made with at home indulgence and Vanilla Cream brings the classic flavour of vanilla to life like never before.
What Are Cream Liqueurs
A cream liqueur is a spirit based drink that includes (usually dairy) cream and a generally flavourful spirit (such as whiskey or rum) among its ingredients.
Notable examples of cream liqueurs include

Amarula, a liqueur which uses distillate of fermented South African marula fruits

Irish cream (such as Baileys), which uses Irish whiskey as a base

RumChata, a mixture of rum and horchata
Cream liqueurs have been growing rapidly in popularity in recent years with the category enjoying almost 30% growth in popularity between 2022 and 2024.
These indulgent and smooth spirits have become a staple for many, especially during the winter months, with a recent study by Currys finding that an enormous 15% of Brits drink Baileys over the festive season, and that is without taking into account all of the alternative brands and lookalike dupes now available on the market.
The O’Donnell Cream Liqueur Range
Here at O’Donnell, we have always prided ourselves on our exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing the highest quality spirits and liqueurs. That’s why, as soon as we turned our hand to trying our own cream liqueur, we knew we’d be onto a winner.
Our first cream liqueur, Tough Nut Cream, entered our range as an exclusive new flavour for the 2023 Advent Calendar. A cream take on our all time best-selling flavour, Tough Nut, this liqueur was characterised by warm hazelnut flavour, a rich creaminess and smooth caramel notes. It was an instant hit, selling out in a matter of weeks when it launched for general sale in 2025.
Next came Strawberries & Cream. A classic flavour combination reimagined, our Strawberries & Cream liqueur brought a smooth elegance to the taste of summer. Another instant hit, this flavour also sold out rapidly.
Now, it’s time to complete the ‘Neapolitan collection’. Our Vanilla Cream offers a decadent balance of rich, creamy flavour and delicate hints of caramel, that come together to create a wonderful winter warmer perfect for long, dark nights and cosy indulgence at home.
Why Add Vanilla Cream Now?
This year, O'Donnell Moonshine have decided to embrace #TryJanuary. The main focus of Try January is mindful enjoyment and exploration. It is a campaign designed to encourage people to explore unfamiliar flavours and experiences and try something new.
Vanilla Cream offers a brand new take on a classic flavour. It's decadent and indulgent nature is designed to encourage people to embrace enjoyment and the finer things in life.
As our cream flavours have proved so popular with our fans so far, and we felt we had something really special with Vanilla Cream - a real reimagining of a classic, we felt that this was the perfect time to add it to the range.
Is Vanilla Cream Allergy Safe?
Due to its nature as a cream liqueur, Vanilla Cream contains milk and dairy products and is therefore not suitable for vegans or anyone with a dairy allergy.
All of our Moonshines are made using a wheat based alcohol, however as the distillation process removes the gluten proteins, are safe for people with gluten allergies.

How to Drink It
Of course, you can drink any of our Moonshines in whatever way you want. However, with its sophisticated and subtle flavour profile and smooth, velvety texture, we would recommend that Vanilla Cream is best enjoyed neat, over ice.
